We pulled up to an empty trough one summer afternoon. Cattle standing on either side looking at us with dismay. After days of investigation, an air tank, some serious digging, we discovered the problem. A dead bird in the pipe leading from the tank to the trough. The little sucker was stuck pretty good, even an air tank didn’t lodge her loose. We ended up taking apart the pipe to clean it out.
Maybe you have been in our shoes, pipe wrentch in hand, and trying to figure out the problem. Depending on the urgency for water, you find yourself stressed to resolve the issue. Does this sound familiar in your life as well? It has in mine.
Have you ever seen a psycho women in her mid forties? Yea, I’ve been there more time than I’d like to admit. My frantic search led to some wise advise I’d like to share. Some advise that has helped me to change some of my prayer habits. Since I have found them to be so helpful I thought I would share them with you.
11 Ways To Get Tanked…in your prayer life
- Regardless of how busy the day, get alone with God first thing. I’ve tried the night time thing, it just doesn’t work for me. Try getting alone before anyone else is awake. Start with just 15 mins. , it’s not the length that matters.
- Enlist the help of godly friends. We all hate admitting we need help, but let’s face it….we do. One friend said a prayer with me the moment I called. I tried to be all composed…it didn’t work. Asking a friend, equips you and gives you power to get through a struggle.
- Focus. Find a place without distractions. A closet, a bedroom, a tack room, or even a bathroom floor. Hey, I’m not judging, some people get their only quite time in the bathroom.
- Pray out loud. Trying to just quitely meditate, my mind just can’t do it! I stay more focused if I pray out loud and keep it flowing.
- Put your name in the blank. Put your name in a verse God keeps bringing you back too. Try the 91st Psalm for example, putting your name in every chance you get.
- Lay down pride. Put God in His proper place. It doesn’t take long to really focus on Who you’re talking to. Think about that for a minute. Wow!
- God alone can give us what no other relationship can. Our spouse, best friend, parents, coworkers, or boss cannot fill His boots.
- Ask for peace, joy, and confidence. A confident prayer covers alot of ground. Confidently make your request and don’t forget to say thank you.
- Gain strength. Practice being alone with God. Make an appointment everyday and build your spiritual muscles.
- Gain Trust. Thank Him that He is trustworthy. He never gets to tired to listen, nor falls short of anything that you need.
- Think above your circumstance. If you really want to get “tanked”, pray for others. Living in a me society, a one way ticket to snoozeville! Don’t be the star of your own reality t.v. show, include others in your life and prayers, I’m sure they would really appreciate it!
