When we moved down here we had never seen this house. A ranch house sometimes can be pretty sketchy!
Much to our surprise we pulled up to this. It’s been nine years since we moved here and I fall more in love with this ranch all the time.
When I fall into the ho hum of life I only have to step back and take a look.
What if someone else lived here and someone had the adventures that I am meant to have .
What if I miss that Spring branding . What if I miss the ride beside my husband or sons, or daughter in laws or our grandson.
What if the memories I’m meant to have are inside around the big farm table with games scattered and people laughing.
I am reminded to live my life and make my home my own. To live with no regret about the things I wished I would have done.
What about you? Do you ever step back and look at your life and wonder, “Am I having those adventures that I’m meant to have?”, or do you find yourself saying, “When I get there I will____________.” “I will finally have fun with my kids, I will have enough money in the bank, I will start inviting people into my home.”
This little thing I do of standing back and looking at my home, seems simple. It works for me and might for you as well. I challenge you…..walk out the door right now….step out about a 100 feet and get a good view of your world. Imagine yourself out of the picture for a moment. I know…it’s a scary thought! But come on, neither you nor I will be around in a 100 years! Someone else will live here. Now imagine your best you. Imagine all that God has created and designed you for. I bet you see yourself in there laughing with your family, smoochin’ on your husband, working on a tree house in the back yard, cooking up something yummy! I’m sure you don’t see moody mommy slammin’ cabinet doors, or dad yellin’ “Move! You’re in the way of the t.v.!”
By now, as you stand out there starring at your home, your husband and children are wondering if you lost your ever-loving mind. Reassure them you have not and look up like you’re checking out the roof, or weather, or a bird, I don’t know….get creative. Then march right in there with a huge smile on your face, kiss them, tell them you love them and this crazy life you’re living. Now go!…hurry up!….live your adventure!!
I can’t leave you without these amazing scriptures about our homes. I like to read them with the question in mind, “What action do I need to take?” Do I need wisdom? What should I be teaching my children? Is my home a quiet resting place or full of turmoil? What about my outside work, am I doing that with a thankful mindset? Is there anything I need to change my mind about?

You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

2 Corinthians 5:1-21 ESV
For we know that if the tent that is our earthly home is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For in this tent we groan, longing to put on our heavenly dwelling, if indeed by putting it on we may not be found naked. For while we are still in this tent, we groan, being burdened—not that we would be unclothed, but that we would be further clothed, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who has given us the Spirit as a guarantee. …
