I had asked her about her relationship with Christ. Her contagious smile and generous spirit inspired me. I loved how she jumps right in to help, truly a ranch women. I wanted to know more. After hearing her talk I understood her passion for Christ and asked her if I could share it with you. Here’s her story, written to me in an email…….
I grew up ranching in far west Texas. I was raised atheist. When I was in Jr High I was introduced to Jesus and religion via a dear friend and her family. My mother, who was also my home school teacher, taught me and my sisters about every religion she could think of. I attended Catholic church with some high school and college friends. I found a comfort there as nothing was required of me other than to remember the responses and actions.
Ten years later, as a single mom with an 18 month old baby, I was going down a wrong road. Living in a college town, made that easy.
I was walking across my living room on a rare day, that my boy was asleep and no one was at my house. I was beyond broke. No direction in my life. I felt so helpless and hopeless. As I walked HE suddenly took me to my knees. Literally. I was overcome by HIS power and to my knees I went. I spent time and tears in prayer. I was offered a position not long after-wards helping take care of a friend’s kid, where I resided with the family. They attended church every Sunday and I fell in love! I was later baptized in this church.
I then played a dangerous game, in which I ran and hid from God. I had brought a lot of baggage with me, from my travels in life. A father I was never good enough for. Raped at 13. Abusive boyfriends. Abusive ex- husband. I ran and bucked like a wild colt. I fought off and on for two to three years. Then God, sent me the man who I was made for. My husband was like a rock and helped me to find peace with who I was. My husband and I then started to attend Cowboy Church and found home. I LOVE being fed and growing in my relationship with God! God has blessed my family beyond measure. I am taken to my knees daily in seeing HIS grace and love and HIS great works.
Easter is on the way! The time of year when we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus and His ultimate sacrifice on the cross. Could your story inspire someone in their walk with Christ? Love hearing from you…….thecowboypastorswife
